Q: iMac Internet Sharing on OS X El Capitan

I recently upgraded my iMac to OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), after running in Snow Leopard since owning it. We've used the iMac to share Wifi to our other devices (Wii, Kindle, phones, etc.) and while the rest of the upgrade went smoothly I can't seem to get the Wifi sharing to work smoothly in El Capitan. The devices see the channel but aren't able to connect (even when the password isn't enabled). Am I missing some sort of sharing setting?

 

I partitioned the drive and have Snow Leopard running on that smaller chunk (mostly to handle 2-3 older programs that aren't compatible with the upgrade), and the Wifi sharing is still working fine from there.

 

iMac is mid-2010's 3.6 GHz Intel Core i5 if that makes any difference.

    Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I understand that you're having trouble sharing your internet connection from your iMac in OS X El Capitan. I understand the convenience of being able to share that connection, and want to help! 
     

    Check out the article linked below to make sure that you have everything set up properly.

    If everything is set up based on the instructions in that article, try setting up a new user account and sharing the Wi-Fi from there. The following article will explain why testing in a new user is a good idea, and walk you through to set one up if you need instructions.
