Missing fonts in FCP X

I've noticed lately that certain fonts which I have cut into my timeline will, upon opening a project, disappear and be replaced by Helvetica. In every case, it's a font that is shipped with FCP X and can be found here:

/Applications/Final Cut Pro.app/Contents/Frameworks/Flexo.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Fonts/

When I restart the iMac, the correct font appears. In the most recent case, it was "Forgotten Futurist” and “Flatbush”. In the past, it has been GAZ and Hopper Script. This is extremely upsetting because if there are many titles in a timeline, I have to be certain that nothing has changed upon re-opening. I don't have time to continually check and re-check to make sure FCP X has not lost any of my titles.

I have found that the only way to insure that this does not occur is to import the titles in question

into the Font Book on my main hard drive. However, in the case of "Forgotten Futurist” and “Flatbush” I got the message and a red marker that there was a “serious problem” with these fonts and and that I should not import them into the Font Book.

Has anyone else encounter this problem? Not only is upsetting, annoying and time-consuming, but very difficult to explain to a client in the room that the font they chose is missing.

OK, Luis. I called FCP X tech support. The guy would not use Digital Rebellion to discard FCP X. Instead, he simply had me drag the app into the trash.

Then, I reinstalled the fresh copy from the Purchases in the Apple Store. Things were OK for a couple of days. Now the same problem has resurfaced.

The Apple guy also suggested re-istalling the El Capitan OS but I refused. I have legacy programs like FCP 7, DVDSP4, etc. that I still use frequently

and I've read that fresh install of the New OS may disable them.
Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Phil

Tom,

First of all, thank you for your attention to my dilemma.'

The FCP X app. along with the shipped fonts in question is located in the Application folder of my main hard drive. The particular Library that I am using now for the project in question is located on a 6 TB external drive. I originally set this Library up as a test since it was my first FCP X project with media and project stored within the same Library. Since then, I've followed my previous FCP 7 format of storing my Libraries in the Documents folder on my main hard drive (see second attached pic) User uploaded fileand the media in the FCP X Media & Caches folders on my 6 TB external drive. In addition, I have two other external media drives (1 TB & 3 TB) that I have used on previous FCP legacy projects. As stated above, I experienced this problem a couple of months ago with the GAZ Transport and Hopper Script fonts which shipped with FCP X. After I imported them into the Font Book, I've had no problem since with them. However, when I attempted the same process with the Forgotten Futurist and Flatbush fonts, I received the red flag that there were "serious problems" with these fonts and that I should not bring them in.

When the problem first occurred, I opened up a Backup and got the same result. That tells me that for some reason the app is not locating the font in its

proper folder and is therefore replacing it with the default, Helvetica. But when I Restart, it's re-setting and seeing it correctly. BTW, "Trashing Preferences" doesn't work.

I guess I can live this way but it's not right to not be able to trust FCP X to apply the correct font.
