Q: iCloud album SORT ORDER?

How do I preserve the 'sort order' of an album in Photos, when I make an iCloud shared album?  All my hard work sorting in a creative order, is lost when I share the album on line.  Maybe I should use DropBox instead?

Thank you.

A Shared album is essentially still a shared photo stream, even if Apple changed the name to "Shared Album".

If you want to have a shared album sorted in a specific order, you have to add the photos to the album individually.  Thea bum will always be sorted by the time you add the photos. If you share the photos in an album all at the same time, the sort order of your album will be lost. Add the photos to the album one at a time, in exactly the order you want.

Shared albums have been streams of photos and not sorted albums since they have been introduced in 2011 with iPhoto and Aperture.  They are simply not meant to be a sorted album. They are a way to share selected photos with friends and family by occasionally dropping a photo into the shared album and it will appear at the end of the album, so the recipient will see what is new.

There has not been a convenient way to share an organized  album of photos with friends and family since Apple dropped Mobile Me and the web photo galleries without third party software. We had a tentative attempt to bring back this functionality, when Photos for iOS allowed to publish web journals and slideshows, but that was a short interlude and died with the demise of iPhoto iOS.

Send feedback and request a feature to share organized albums - where the photos can be arranged freely and the metadata will be transferred. Shared albums are stripping all titles, descriptions, and the GPS coordinates.
