Q: Songs on iPhone 6 skip with 38 seconds remaining

So this is an odd one:  over the past year or so I've added a number of albums to my phone via iTunes, and they almost all skip when the track time remaining transitions from 39 to 38 seconds.  A few months ago this was just a very small "hiccup":  the song would just skip like an old portable CD player.

But now the song will actually change to the next one in the playlist, and join that song at what seems to be a random point (usually between 25-30 seconds into the song), while at the same time still showing the album artwork/artist/title of the previous song.  In other words, the song changes, but everything else remains the same.

This problem doesn't exist on iTunes, and doesn't seem to affect music purchased through iTunes.  I've removed all the music and re-synced, but that didn't help.  And now as I'm going through some of these songs on my iPhone as I'm typing this, some that skipped in the past no longer skip.

I'm running iOS 9.3.2.  I've searched online for solutions off-and-on over the past year, but haven't found anything on-point.  Any ideas??

    Hi there zippityz,

It sounds like when you listen to music that you've imported to iTunes on your iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3.2, that you're experiencing skipping where the audio skips but visually it appears to be on the previous song.  I love listening to music on my iPhone and skipping would drive me crazy.

It sounds like you've done some good troubleshooting however resyncing your music might not resolve the issue if it's software based.  My recommendation would be to do a backup of your iPhone to iTunes and then restore the iPhone and set it up as new following the instructions on this article:

How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

Once you set it up as a new device, go ahead and sync some music to it and play it back on your iPhone to see if the skipping persists or not.  If there is still skipping, go through the music that's skipping and see if it's the audio files that are having some sort of issue.  You may need to reimport music that's not behaving properly.  You can then choose to restore from your back up, though if the issue returns, the issue lies somewhere in your back up and you can set up as new again and manually bring back your information from iCloud and download your apps again.

    Best wishes!
