Can't connect keynote remote between iPad pro and macbook Air. In the past this worked. Now it doesn't. I've tried both my home wi-fi and personal hotspot. I can open the keynote remote from my iPhone but not from my iPad Pro.

Hi there Dave,

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities! This is the perfect place to get help with connecting your iPad Pro to your MacBook Air with the Keynote Remote. I'll be more than happy to provide you with some resources on this.

To begin, take a look at this article to ensure that you have everything updated and set up properly:

Use Keynote Remote on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

As it says in the article:

Keynote Remote doesn't work over a network hosted by a Mac with Internet Sharing, or a network hosted by an iOS device using Personal Hotspot.

This would explain why trying to utilize the Keynote Remote while using your iPhone's Personal Hotspot wasn't yielding any results.

If after going through the article you're still running into issues, the following steps would be the next course of action. Make sure to test out the remote feature after each one:

1. Completely close the Keynote app on both your iPad Pro and your Mac, and then restart both devices.

2. Unlink your iPad as a remote, force quit the Keynote app, and restart the iPad.

3. Delete and reinstall the Keynote for iOS app on your iPad.

4. Reset the network settings on your iPad Pro by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Do be aware that this will erase any of your stored Wi-Fi networks and their passwords.

5. Create a backup of your iPad Pro and then restore it to factory settings.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Have a fantastic rest of your day!
