Q: iPod Touch 5 Gen. Says it's connected to home wifi, but it doesn't seem to work.

I have a 32GB iPod Touch 5th gen. with iOS 9.3.2 (most current version) and when I connect to the internet at my house (My house only. It works just fine everywhere else), it says that it's connected, along with my VPN, but when I try to load up an app such as Facebook Messenger, it just has the orange bar at the top saying connecting. Or when I send an iMessage, it doesn't work either. It tells me that it is sending, but then it fails about 8 or 9 minutes later. When I try to load the app store, it also does this. I still get messages and notifications from apps that require internet too, like Messenger, and Gmail. I can use all other devices in my house like my laptop and my desktop computers, as well as my Xbox One. I even restored my iPod from a backup with iTunes and it didn't work. Can someone please help me figure out why my iPod is doing this? Thanks, Austin.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?  Yes. If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.

Does the iOS device see the network?

    Any error messages?

Do other devices now connect? Yes

Did the iOS device connect before?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    - Power off and then back on your router

.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Restore from backup. See:

    iOS: How to back up

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
