Q: Safari 9.1.1 on OS 10.11.5 - Safari is not loading certain plugins on at least 2 websites. a wordpress website - homepage slide show not working - rapidweaver website - plug ins glitchy - runs perfectly on Chrome

Mac Pro mid 2012 - Processor 3.33 Ghz 6-core Intel Xeon - Memory 20 Gb 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC- Graphics ARI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB - Just upgraded to El Capitan 2 weeks ago - a little glitchy- Have had Mail quit unexpectedly about 4 times - Finder has also quit unexpectedly. 

Have not had any issues with Safari 9.1.1 until yesterday.  Checked it on 3  computers - each website had the same result.

Both websites are mine.

Sellsedona.com - wordpress website is not loading the homepage slide show.  and the dashboard posts section is not loading properly. spinning wheel of death on some of the plugins.

Sperryr.com is a rapidweaver 5 website - up to date - butt the plug-ins are not working on it either. 

 

Google Chrome runs perfectly but I am a Safari user.  Please help.

    Hi,

     

    A Safe Mode boot deletes system caches that can help after upgrading to a newer OS X.

     

    Follow these steps to start up into safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
    3. Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

    After the Apple logo appears, it might take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your desktop. This is because your Mac performs a directory check of your startup disk as part of safe mode.

    To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

     

    Then try Safari. Hopefully the Finder won't quit unexpectedly either.

    Your first page doesn't use any plug-ins as it's all javascript.

    Your second page has a single .mp4 file that opens in a new window when the link is clicked. It's not coded to call a plug-in.

    I am not sure which of the 2 websites you are talking about.  SellSedona.com is a site that allows you to continue to scroll down the page and access different features. The feature that is not loading is the slideshow on the very 1st page or top of the website often called "above the fold".  If it has just a white background behind the logo then the slideshow is not working for you as well. Using Chrome, you can see that various full screen pictures load at timed intervals. Also, I just checked that none of the listing slideshows are working and as you scroll down the home page, the video section does not load.

     

    On sperryr,com none of the plugins or stack elements work.  (rapidweaver 5.4.1) I have a tab page (not loading) - Caligrapher is not loading. exposer pro and el-hido are not working - I have a News Ticker stack element or plug-in that is not working. The scroll-to stack is not working - etc.

     

    All of these elements work perfectly in Chrome. It may be more helpful to see the website in Chrome and then see it in Safari.

     

    Are these websites working on your Safari browser?

     

    All links to URLs seem to be working on both websites

     

    I checked with my support team and they said that everything on the website was functioning the way it is supposed to. The support team does not use Safari or Mac.

    The videos on that page don't require a browser plug-in as they use HTML 5 options for playback.

    Hi Quicktime Kirk, did you see if both of the websites are loading for you on Safari? Do you get a white background behind the logo also (on SellSedona.com)  - I want to start somewhere.  On sperryr.com - there are tabs on the homepage to lead you to other portions of the website. Do you see tabs?  If you look at Chrome you will see how both of these websites look and act.  I have Macs and each is doing the same thing.  I need confirmation that it is happening outside my household on your computer? 

     

    Is it an issue with the new OS?

    I have already determined it is not the hosting companies because each website is hosted by different companies.

     

    There is a problem - I am trying to figure out what the root problem is. Maybe plug-in is not the proper term.  I am absolutely not talking about any Safari plug ins. I have disabled all third party plug-ins for Safari.  (though they have not been an issue in the past). 

     

    The plug-ins I am talking about are the actual website building programs of WordPress and Rapidweaver.  The actual websites load but not the special features associated with them.

    Yep. It has nothing to do with plug-ins. Apple has ended support for QuickTime for Windows and Flash will end support and updates by the end of the year. Your pages don't use either.

    I would like to get a reference point.  This problem started on June 19th on Safari. I noticed that the slideshow was not loading on the homepage of SellSedona.com - I also checked my other website at sperryr.com - It was not loading properly either. 

    Both load PERFECTLY on Chrome and Firefox. Both of these websites are hosted at different companies

     

    Prior to June 19th - These websites loaded perfectly on Safari.

    What might have changed?

     

    Can anyone tell me if they are getting a white background on sellsedona.com on the homepage.  If you compare the website on Chrome does it look the same on Safari? 

     

    Same question for sperryr.com -  - I need to know if this is happening outside of my home. All five of my computers are showing the same thing.  I have no other reference point right now.

    Can you just answer the 2 questions at the start of my post. 

    White background on SellSedona?

    Do you get working tabs on sperrryr.com? on Safari??

    Check Chrome and Firefox visually - both these websites work fine on those browsers.

    I was able to go into the preferences and change web content - enable javaScript and Allow WebGL as well as turn on plug-ins.  This fixed the issue.

    I did try Caroly Sammit suggestion prior and that may have been what was needed.
