iPad screen black after turning voiceover on

I turned voiceover on and then when i locked my ipad. I've tried pressing the lock button and home button together and that did not fix my problems, the apple logo is displayed during start up and then briefly the lock screen. Any ideas as to what else i should try?

A black screen with Voice over on is the screen curtail. Triple tap the screen with three fingers to remove the screen.

Or

Tell Siri politely, "Turn Vouceover off."
