Q: My Mac Keeps "forgetting" passwords

Why does my Mac under 10.10.5 keep "forgetting passwords?

It'll keep them for a while then suddenly I'll get a login error that it's the wrong password or it never fills in a stored password and leaves it blank?

This has happened repeatedly and it's getting to be a royal pain.

Does "El Capitan" offer better password handling?

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10), 20 Gig Ram, 3.5 GigHD's Bluetooth/A

I have used both Yosemite and El Cap since it was released and have never had issues - that said - have you tried trouble shooting the keychain?
Also you may want to consider the use of an app such as 1Password

Try running Keychain Access/First Aid. If it keeps happening, note all your passwords, and do a reset.

Keychain's Diagnostic run found no problems.

Apple Customer Support was very helpful and believes I have multiple passwords for the same accounts and  and it may be confusing their keychain system. I have some stored passwords going back to 2002 that I never use anymore They've been deleted. I have multiple Apple account passwords and they've been deleted. I'll see if that helps. I may have to go to  commercial password maintenance/backup program. I am not comfortable with the limited features and interface of Keychain...that's just my preference. Also, password systems are rapidly changing to keep up with the hackers intrusions. So file names are being changed, and may be conflicting in Keychain. What used to be simple 5-6 character passwords are getting more complicated with numbers/special characters, case sensitivity...and increasing frequency of having to change them.

Not so simple keeping up with it all anymore, imho.

I agree it isn't simple anymore. I use 1 Password, which is what ManSinha suggested. They have a trial version. Link to the download if you are interested.
