My friend and I have started a podcast called General Snobbery in which we discuss movies and their flaws. Occasionally, often simply by saying quotes from the films, we use the word "shi*". Does this usage mean we should mark our podcast as "Explicit"? Or can this be considered "Clean"? Thanks a million!

Apple does not have a specific list on what "exactly" makes a podcast explicit.
But per your question - YES - SHI# - does require an explicit tag.
As does any F-Bombs - use of the word - C#ck - some shows have even been kicked out of iTunes for having C#ckfighting in the title of an episode - even though it was a show about animal rights. There is a bot that goes through and checks titles and descriptions - FYI - even if you are labeled explicit - you can not have any profanity in your title or description. The Explicit tag just covers you on what You SAY in the episode.
And again - use of the SHI# word - DOES require you label as explicit based on past shows that have been booted.
