Mac skipping songs on iTunes and Spotify?

I have a MacBook Pro that I got last year around this time. Recently iTunes began skipping songs in the middle of the song, like the song would get to the middle then it would skip to the next song. I thought this was just an iTunes problem, and I removed then re-added the music, but it keeps skipping. I can move to the middle of the song, like the whole song is there, iTunes just skips. I also noticed that Spotify does this too, it'll start playing a song, then skip to a random part in the middle, the skip to the next song. I think it may be a problem with the computer itself because it's doing this with both programs?

Only songs I got recently do this (on iTunes). Spotify has never done this before the iTunes problem. All my old music doesn't skip.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 9.3.2

Hello oliviaaustin
I know first hand how frustrating it is when your music isn't acting as expected. I have a couple steps that may help though. Let's try to reset the NVRAM on your Mac:
How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac
If you still have the same trouble after the reset, let us know if you are streaming on both services, and which version of OS X is running on your Mac. The community is here to help.
Best Regards
