iPod nano 7th gen unexpected shutdown

Hi,

I am facing the below issues with my iPod nano 7th gen

1. When I try playing any song, it plays for 2-3 secs and then shuts down. The same behaviour even after restarting it.

2. I charge the battery to 100%, try point 1 (above), suddenly battery level seems to show around 50% or less.

Not sure if its only the battery which is giving this problem or something else. Kindly share your wise suggestions.
