iPhone 6s Plus Camera Resulution?

Long time Apple member, first time posting. I have a iPhone 6s Plus 16gb Black, I have questions regarding the camera.. First I should say I know the basics of resulution and all that. I know the camera can record in 4K Resulution I've turned that setting on and my videos are beautiful. However, I prefer photography. My only really question is, Does my iPhone take pictures in 4K? Im not too familiar with megapixels and I believe the camera on my phone has 12. Does that mean it as a Resulution of 4K? Thanks to anyone who reads 🙂 -Peter
