Trying to synch iCal from Mac-iPhone

My MacBook Pro is using El Capitan 10.11.5. An my iPhone 5s also has the latest update. The events and appointment that i set up on the Mac are not going over to the phone. I have checked my settings on the phone, on iCal, and on the Cloud and even tried a synch through USB but the calendars on the Mac are not transferring.

I'm getting ready to travel and I have a lot of appointments. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Confirm that you are logged into the same Apple ID on both devices. Then, double check in Settings>iCloud that you have calendar syncing turned on. Then, open up the Calendar app on your iPhone. Tap Calendars in the bottom center of the screen and make sure that the correct calendars have a tick mark next to them.

Thanks. I was pretty sure I had already done all that, but I did it again, anyway. It did not help. Still looking at my Mac calendar and it doesn't match my iPhone.
