Q: Mac pro wifi interupting network

Hello,

 

this issue just appeared over the weekend after making no changes to anything. Whenever my mac pro connects to wifi, all other devices have their connection interrupted on the same network. What could cause this interference? when my mac pro does get connected the internet is very slow Compared to how it used tp work.

 

 

El captiain 2011 mac pro, asus router.

Most often BitTorrent, iCloud, Dropbox, or some other cloud-data application is involved in cases of mysterious bandwidth use by a Mac. If you use iCloud, please uncheck at least iCloud Drive in its preference pane and see whether there's any change. If you use third-party network backup or file-sync software, disable that. If you use a torrent client, remove it.

Otherwise, if you're running OS X 10.9 or later, you can see which processes are most active on the network.

Launch the Activity Monitor application in any one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Select All Processes from the View menu, if not already selected, and also select the Network tab.

Click the heading of the Sent Bytes column in the process table to sort the entries by bandwidth usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Repeat with the Rcvd Bytes column.

    Have you powered off nd then back on your router?

    Rebooted the Mac Pro?

    Have you done anything to the Mac Pro or router since it last worked?

    I Have restarted both the router and mac multiple times over the past few days. I believe an update was made in friday but i thought it was only for logic and not a system update but i could be wrong with the countless updates needed by macs these days. There Is one update available but i am unable to see it as the internet is so slow on the mac Pro.

     

    I Have an ipad, work pc and macbook pro from 2008 on snow leopard and all work fine until the mac pro gets on the network.

    When on the internet with the Mac Pro open Activity Monitor and go to the Network tab? Is something using a lot of network? It could be that something is downloading or uploading

    Hello,

     

    This helped me identify the issue and correct it with the below link. There was a process from the iCloud or spotlight causing the issue, I wish Apple would release an OS that was more barebones and didn't force all of these new features that a lot of people don't want to be installed. The most reliable OS was snow leopard and while some of the new features are ok, most are useless and can't be disabled.

     

    Thank you for your help identifying the issue.

     

    nsurlsessiond was the process.
