Does Apple Pay supports offline transactions when POS terminal is offline?

In my case offline transactions involves that the POS terminal has no connection to issuer host. Apple states that Apple pay is EMV compliant, but by doing more research on the EMV standard I found out that to be compliant doesn't requires to support offline authentication. (I might be wrong on this)

EMV Offline transaction usually requires one of the 3 types of offline authentication:

  • Static data authentication (SDA)
  • Dynamic data authentication (DDA)
  • Combined DDA with application cryptogram (AC) generation (CDA)

But I can't find any information that says that Apple Pay would work with such transactions.

I also know that in the United States most of our transactions are done online, since we have the network infrastructure. But in Europe/UK a lot of transactions are done offline and then the data is uploaded at the end of the business day.

What do you guys/girls thinks? Do you have any extra information that could help me answer this question?

Thank you,
