Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, I am understanding that when you try to shuffle your music, it instead repeats a single song. I listen to music on shuffle all the time on my own iPhone, so I know making sure it's working as expected is important. I'm happy to offer some information that may help!
Take a look over the following article to get help on using Apple Music in the Music app on your iPhone to start.
Use Apple Music in the Music app
Make sure you are selecting the right icon for shuffle, and not the one for repeat, as detailed under the "Shuffle or repeat your music" section:Shuffle or repeat your music
Tap
at the bottom of the Now Playing screen to shuffle the songs in a playlist or album. You can also ask Siri to shuffle your music.Tap
once to play an entire playlist or album on repeat or twice to repeat one song.If you are selecting the correct icon for shuffle and it's still only repeating a song, try the following steps, stopping when the issue is resolved:
- Quit and relaunch the Music app. Double press your Home button, then locate the Music app from the Multitasking menu. Place your finger on the app's mini window and swipe up toward the top of your iPhone's display. Then, tap the Music app to open it again. Test to see if it shuffles as expected.
- Restart your iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the right side of the iPhone, and slide to power off when prompted. Once off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo. Once fully booted, open the Music app and test shuffle.
- Reset the iPhone's settings under Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This step will not remove any of your data, but it will revert customizable settings (like your wallpaper and display brightness, ringtones, date & time settings, etc) back to their factory defaults. It will also remove any saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords, as well as previously used VPN or APN settings.
- Back up your iPhone and use iTunes on a computer to restore it to factory settings.
Instructions on backing up your iPhone using iCloud or iTunes can be found in the article linked below.
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Once your backup is completed, use the following article to restore your iPhone to factory settings, then set it up as a new device (without restoring your backup).
Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings
After the restore is completed and the iPhone set up as new, sign into your iTunes Store account under Settings > iTunes and App Store. Make sure Apple Music is turned on in the same location, then test your shuffle feature. If it works, you can use the following article to restore your backup, and test again.
Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup
Cheers! - Quit and relaunch the Music app. Double press your Home button, then locate the Music app from the Multitasking menu. Place your finger on the app's mini window and swipe up toward the top of your iPhone's display. Then, tap the Music app to open it again. Test to see if it shuffles as expected.
