    The only way to activate that device is for the original owner to remove the device from their iCloud account. If the pawn shop cannot contact the original owner to have them remove the Activation Lock, return it for a refund. You will never be able to activate the device. It is useless to you.

    You can't; the activation lock is an anti-theft measure. Take it back to the shop and ask for a refund.
