Q: A genuine link or a scam?

I've just received a text from AppleGB saying that my account has been locked because there were unusual attempts on my apple id.  It  has given me a link to unlock it at www.irestore.acc4.co.uk  Is this genuine?

Scam. As you can see, there is no part of Apple in that link. Also, Apple does not send text messages regarding accounts. Your Apple ID is an email, not a phone number for texts.

    Hi.

Do not go to that link. It's a scam. Delete that text.

    Hi,

When you receive correspondence from Apple it will be a direct communication from Apple to you. What it appears you have received is a text that redirects to a website for Apple ID. DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR APPLE ID. Here is the link to the Official Apple Support for locked ID's. Always refer to Apple ONLY when dealing with your account and ID information.

If your Apple ID is locked - Apple Support

Please be extremely cautious, as you are, about lending ANY personal ID's or account info unless directed to do so by the Company you have your accounts and ID's with. Apple contacts you directly by official email, text or by phone. They will clearly identify themselves. Hope this helps!

    Cheers!!

Even if you suspected it was legitimate, NEVER follow any link in any such email or text, ever.  Just go to the account management web site URL yourself and check your account - https://appleid.apple.com/ and you'll see it;s just fine.

And that applies to ANY unsolicited email or text you may get that refers to an account or service.  If you actually have such an account or use such a service, never merely follow embedded links in the message.  If you wish to check your account, then do so manally from your normal login or web account page and just check your account yourself.
