Q: Delete iTunes Match entirely, start over--help needed

My PC's hard drive was failing so I signed up for Match and let it scan my computer. However, I found out that my iTunes library was basically trashed...songs missing, albums incomplete. I then discovered a folder with an excellent, more complete copy of my extensive library and manually cleaned up everything. I saved the cleaned-up folder to my desktop and saved it to an external hard drive.

I have now bought a new computer. However, Match was run on my badly mangled iTunes library. and I now want to wipe out Match, and upload my cleaned-up folder of music.  Please explain the simplest way to do this.  I literally want to wipe out Match and start over, help!

Windows 10, null

    Hello Whippetcat!

Looks like you're wanting to start your iTunes Match over after getting a new computer going now.  Let's check it out!

Go ahead and get iTunes Match setup on the new computer but without adding the cleaned up folder of music to your iTunes yet. Once iTunes Match is setup, you can then do a Select All (Control + A) to highlight all the songs in the mangled library.  Then delete them.  Go to the Store menu at the top of iTunes (may need to hit Control+B for it to appear) and choose Update iTunes Match.  That way it scans that all the music is gone and updates that.  From there, then you can add your cleaned-up folder of music to iTunes, update iTunes Match again and let it start uploading your desired songs.

Hope that does it for you and back listening to what you want.

    Cheers!
