Q: Does not recognize full size of hard drive (1TB, but shows 500gb)

I have 1TB hard drive but system shows 500GB.. what do I need to do for system to recognize the whole space. Please help.

Spec: Macbook Pro (13" Late 2011)

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

That display is in error due to a bug in the program. Sometimes a Spotlight reindex will correct it:

For accurate information on HDD utilization, download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes.
