AirPort Express - Blinking Orange Light of Death

I attempted to run a firmware update on my AirPort Express base station, but it failed.

I tried again, it failed again...

Searching the forum they recommended backing up config, then resetting the base station.

I did this, chose the option to restore the base station to default...

Now I get nothing other than an orange blinking light and it will not show up in the AirPort Utility.

I have attempted to reset it with the paperclip multiple times, with the same effect.

Do I have yet another piece of Apple network hardware that is dead? I'd have better luck getting struck by lightning in the middle of a field in a cloudless sky than having a piece of Apple network hardware actually behaving reliably...

What model is the express? How old?

Try the full reset.. power off.. hold in the reset.. power on.. keep holding in reset for about 10sec until you see the front LED flash rapidly. Release the reset and wait a couple of min for it to fully restart.

If you have no luck over wireless try doing the setup manually over ethernet.

Here are the instructions.. It is for a Time Capsule.. but any of the Apple routers follows the same setup details.
