Q: How can I transfer music library to iCloud, maintaining all iTunes functions?

Hi. I just purchased 1TB of iCloud storage. My main goal is to transfer all the music files to there. These files have filled the internal drive of my Mac Mini. I would like to transfer the files to iCloud, removing them from my internal Mac drive, but I don't want to lose my iTunes functions, especially all my playlists. These playlists would be very difficult to reconstruct from scratch.

How can I move the music files from My Music to iCloud, then point iTunes to the library there, without ruining all my playlists by moving the files?

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

With iTunes Match you can keep all audio files in iCloud, and onl database files with the playlists locally on your Mac.

See:  Subscribe to iTunes Match - Apple Support

Copying the iTunes Library to iCloud Drive will not removethe library from your Mac.  iTunes Drive mirrors all files on your Mac, so you can work offline.  It is primarily syncing the library fro a central cloud storage.

Firstly, you can't run iTunes with your files in iCloud Drive, but even if you could you won't save any space since all iCloud files are written to your Macs drive. If you are short of space on your Mac get an external drive.
