Ipod touch 5g charging error.

My I pod touch 5g wont charge correctly. I plugged it in at 62% battery to sync it with my pc and it shows the message battery low 20%. It is really annoying. Is there a fix? It would really help me out. It shuts down if I keep the ipod on too. The battery icon turns red too. Please help me.

iPod touch, iOS 9.3.2, 32gb version.
