Q: Export iBooks author projects as .epub format files

I keep reading in Apple articles that I can export iBooks author as .epub files however I have not found export options in the app or explained in Apple support. I need files in .epub and .epub3 format.

In order to export as .epub, you must compose the book using one of the templates specifically marked for .epub  provided in iBA.  The other templates can only be exported to .ibooks format.

Thanks. However I have already produced many epub book files and I am trying to open them, update them, and re-export as .epub files. I do not have the option to select an ePub template when importing. I want to use iBooks Author as my primary authoring platform.

iBA can't do that, it has to work from its templates.  You will have to use another app.  Apple doesn't make any app that can open and edit epub.

Thanks again. That is so disappointing. It's a wonderful program I would gladly pay money for if available in a Pro edition, and could become my main platform.

My earlier post may not have been correct.  Have you already tried using File > New From Epub File?  I don't know how that might work but worth a try.
