iPhone Location Services Settings Will Not Save

Previous iPhone 5 had an issue where we attempt to change location services settings under Privacy. Got a new iPhone SE and the issue carried over to it.

Example. We go to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services. Location Services is turned on. Below that, there is a list of location settings for individual Apps where you can select Never, While Using the App, or Always.

If we select an App, we'll say Camera for now, we can change the setting from Never to Always, the check mark moves from Never to Always, so we think the setting has been changed to Always. Then we hit the the back arrow to go back to Location Services, but the setting has changed back to Never. We can click back in to Camera location settings and see the check mark has moved back to Never. "Always" should be selected, but for some reason it's not.

The only thing I could think of is that we used to use an App called Good for Enterprise for email. It would use a security profile and basically take over the settings the company didn't want you to change. But we don't use Good for Enterprise any more and the App has been installed. I was thinking maybe there's remnants of the security profile, which would explain why the issue carried over to the new iPhone SE. But I don't know where to go to check and see if there's a security profile still on the phone. I would assume it would go away with the App.

Anybody know if/where I can go to check if there's still a security profile installed? Anybody know what could be causing this?

Thanks!

iPhone SE, iOS 9.3.2

Hello, TheGuyATX!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! I know how important it is to be sure the location services work properly on the iPhone. You can check for Profiles by going to Settings> General> Profile. That will tell you if there is anything installed as a profile to the iPhone.

As for the issue with the setting carrying over, it might be best to do a fresh install of the operating system and not restore the backup to see if the issue is embedded in the backup itself. Try these steps here:

1. Please follow these steps to ensure your iTunes is up to date:

Get the latest version of iTunes - Apple Support

2. This article will tell you how to back up the phone either to iTunes or iCloud. It might be best to use iCloud so you can set the phone up as new and then merge your information from iCloud, like your contacts, photos, music, etc. You can also sync the information from iTunes if you prefer. You just want to sync rather than restore the entire backup in either case.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

3. These steps will tell you how to restore the iPhone to factory settings which will reinstall the operating system.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Once these steps are done and you've tested to see if the issue is happening and determine it's not, go to Settings> General> iCloud and sign in to sync the contacts, music, photos, calendars, etc. from iCloud.

If you synced to iTunes, use these steps:

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB

Cheers!
