Q: Uploaded file cannot download--how to replace in iCloud

I've recently been downloading a lot of my music to my Moto X Pure edition (with a 128GB MicroSD card), but I keep tripping over files that fail to download. Whenever I go to ANY authenticated device (computer, iPhone, Android--even the computer where the local file came from), the supposedly "Uploaded" file is not retrievable.  I am presented with the error, "This item cannot be downloaded. The item you have requested is not available for download."

So, the file that iTunes Match uploaded is glitched out somehow.  How do I replace it with a good copy of the file?  Removing the download only makes it "Available to download", (and tosses my original file in the trash), but upon downloading, I get the above error.  I could delete it entirely, then replace it and expect iTunes Match to update and upload upon finding no match for the newly added track.  But then I lose all the metadata--times played, rating, date added, date last played, etc.  I strive very hard to maintain the data integrity of my library, and I really don't want to have to replace tracks that have a long history in my library with "fresh" copies just to fix a file in iCloud (because there's nothing wrong at all with the copy currently in the local library.

So: anyone know how to re-upload an uploaded track without destroying the track's metadata?
