I have a 3-week old Magic Mouse and checked the single-finger "swipe between pages" option.
I find that it is not swiping consistently. I swipe, but I do not "go back" or "go forward" in my browser as expected. When it doesn't work, I have to click on the arrows in the toolbar.
Anyone else having this problem?

On the bottom of the mouse you'll see two horizontal black bars. Take a clean damp lint free cloth and wipe those bars. Then try your mouse.
I have never seen such a problem fixed by cleaning the bottom rails of the mouse. I have seen better control over the options as well as adding more features by downloading and installing Better Touch Tool. If you use it then be sure to disable all mouse gestures from the Mouse preference panel.
