Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I understand that when you make a call you cannot hear the caller unless the loudspeaker is on and then they cannot hear you. I know how important it is for you to be able to be heard and to hear your callers. It sounds like that there could be 2 issues. One with your mic and one with your receiver. Before checking out the articles, and since it's new, make sure the thin plastic covering that comes on the display has been removed.
Then these 2 articles can help resolve these types of issues:
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker
Get help with the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Best Regards

Jun 24, 2016 3:22 PM in response to Becks8253by owlb218,To every one who wants to have more storage (external storage)
on the IPhone 5s and up I have found a way .
I have a IPhone 6 and only have 64 gig's on board I also have a
SanDisk Connect wireless flashdrive I use as a external storage
device and I have had no problems with the above .
Apple app store - in the search box type "Wireless" enter and it should
Show the SanDisk Connect wireless media.
I found my app at SanDisk.com. if you can't find it go to contact SanDisk
and ask for the link to the app for the IPhone.
