Q: Final Cut 4 Import Issue

Hi All, I'm using Final Cut Express 4 and I'm importing some footage that's 1318 × 1080, but it's coming as 4:3 instead of it's native aspect ratio. How do I tell FCE4 to import all footage at its original aspect ratio?

    Hi there.

FCE doesn't support custom resolutions – that is, non standard resolutions like the one you're importing.

If you want to work in that size, I suggest you take a look at Final Cut Pro X, which can import (and export) unusual frame sizes and aspect ratios. There is a 30 day full-featured trial download if you want to give it a try. It's quite different than FCE, so if you do decide to try it, I suggest you look at some tutorials or read up on the workflow to get the most of your trial.

    Good luck.
