Q: OS X Yosemite installer app won't run
I am trying to install OS X Yosemite on an iMac currently running OS X 10.9.5. I downloaded the OS X Yosemite installer before El Capitan was released thinking I would be able to run it sometime in the future. Now when I run the installer app it pops up a message saying that the installer is no longer valid and that I need to download a newer version from the app store. Well, guess what? The only installer available is for 10.11. Is there anywhere I can get a valid Yosemite installer?
iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), 2.8 ghz i7, 16gb memory

Recently Apple made a change that left old OS X installers unusable. If you downloaded OS X Yosemite from the Mac App Store, redownload it by opening the Mac App Store and going to Purchases. The OS X Yosemite installer will pop up when the download finishes, so just follow its steps.
