your home directory is almost full

We have home sync setup across the site and one perticular user keeps getting the error "your home directory is almost full" for their files

The problem is there's 1.75 TB free on the server that it syncs too, no matter what I do it gives the same error over and over.

I've propagated the permissions, checked the permissions, renamed the folder from user to user-old but its still the same

I'm lost on what else to do short of deleting the profile on the laptop and starting again.
