Q: How do I add a new email address for iMessage with 2 step verification?

i want to add a different email address to my iMessage on my device. when I try to add it, I get s pop up saying I have 2 step verification and go to apple.com. i get stuck here: can't find what to do to add the nrw email or do I have to turn off my 2 step verification?
