Q: iPod touch 4th gen screen not working

I've had my iPod touch 4th gen for quite a few years now and it's worked fine, besides the home button becoming stuck. Recently, however, the screen went weird(can't really describe what it looked like) and then it shut off completely. The iPod was still on and functioning as I could play music when it was connected to a speaker but the screen is completely black. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
