What cable to connect 2012 macbook pro to canon optura 20?

What do I look for when buying a cable to connect a 2012 macbook pro to a canon optura 20?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), Matias keyboard, Logitech trackball

If your 2012 macbook pro has a FireWire 800 port then you only need a 4 pin to 9 pin FireWire cable.

If it has a Thunderbolt port then you need the 4 pin to 9 pin FireWire cable PLUS a Thunderbolt adaptor.

Some pictures of cables shown in here (from FCPX forum)

New MBP, Final cut pro X & mini-DV capture through Thunderbolt or USB

Note, again, that you do not need the Thunderbolt adaptor if your mac has the FireWire 800 port.
