My podcast app seems to launch even though I have closed it. How can I change this behavior?

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! I know how important it is to be sure an app is closing fully as well. Without knowing what specific steps you've done so far to close the app, I would suggest forcing the app closed by double tapping the Home button and then swiping up on the app to fully close it and stop it from running in the background.

I have the same problem even after I close the app as you instructed, but it only seems to happen when I plug it into the USB port in my car. Is there a setting to stop that?
