moving itunes library to One Drive on Windows 10 pc

I use ITunes on my Windows 10 pic. I have installed the most recent ITunes update.

My ITunes library is stored on my windows 10 pc under c:\music. I would like to create a music folder, c:\OneDrive\music and drag all of the ITunes music and other files from the current location to the new location.

I would then tell ITunes the new location for the ITunes music and other files.

This would give me automatic cloud backup of my existing ITunes library as well as anything I add to it.

THanks for any help you can offer.

I just tried this approach this month and do not believe it to be a successful move. It may be at 42,320 items, I have exceeded some sort of file limit. But what I can say is my phone is no longer syncing properly with iTunes (playlists that should be on the phone are not, etc) and Onedrive is constantly downloading new data as directed by iTunes.exe.

Now, maybe my troubles are linked more to a summer/fall signup to Apple Music. But I just unsubscribed to it.

My plan is to my all of iTunes in C:\Users\Username\Music and that is the one that iTunes will see.

Then I will go back to using SyncToy to sync the C:Drive version of iTunes with OneDrive and my network server, so I will still have 2 backups of my library.

In theory, it should be possible to do this, Assuming you have enough storage in OneDrive to accommodate your music library.

Before attempting this, make sure your library is portable, and backed up.

Make a split library portable

With that done, shut down iTunes, and copy the iTunes folder in its entirety into the One Drive folder.

Once the copy has completed, open iTunes while holding down the Shift Key on your keyboard. This will let you select a library to load when iTunes loads.

Point iTunes to the location in the One Drive folder where you copied the library, and wait for it to load.

Note: that unless you've manually moved the One Drive folder to C:\ its usually found in your user folder and not directly on the root of the C:\ drive.
