Wallet double-tap brightness

I am assuming this is a bug, but when I access the wallet from the lock screen using double-tap of the home button to pay via the Starbucks barcode, the brightness does not change.

I keep the screen brightness quite low to preserve power and at the moment I am having to manually increase the brightness before accessing the wallet from the lock screen.

If you go wallet app, but just starting the app from the springboard the brightness increases as expected so the barcode is bright enough to scan.

Very Annoying 😠

Hey Bazrat,

Thanks for joining the Apple Support Forums. I understand how having to manually adjust the screen brightness is a bit annoying, but your iPhone 6s Plus has awesome new features that can automatically adjust your display depending on the light in your environment. Enabling nightshift and using Auto brightness may help with using your wallet app from the lock screen. Check out the link and the steps below for some great tips.

Adjust the screen brightness and color balance

Dim the screen or use Auto-Brightness to extend battery life. Use Night Shift to shift the colors in your display to the warmer end of the spectrum at night and make viewing the screen easier on your eyes.

Brightness slider and Auto-Brightness on/off settings:

Adjust the screen brightness. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness, then drag the slider. If Auto-Brightness is on, iPhone adjusts the screen brightness for current light conditions using the built-in ambient light sensor. You can also adjust the brightness in Control Center.

Use Night Shift:

Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Night Shift. Night Shift shifts the colors in your display to the warmer end of the spectrum, making viewing the screen easier on your eyes when it’s dark.

Turn Night Shift on manually, helpful when you’re in a darkened room during the day, for example, or schedule it to turn on automatically. If you schedule Night Shift to turn on from sunset to sunrise, iPhone uses the data from your clock and your geolocation to determine when it’s nighttime for you.

To adjust the color balance for Night Shift, go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Night Shift, then drag the slider toward the warmer or cooler end of the spectrum.

You can also turn on Night Shift in Control Center. Tap Night Shift button.

Fine tuning these settings can help with auto adjusting your display brightness when you need it! Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Have a great day.
