Q: My iphone wont connect to my iMac with Bluetooth

I accidentally turned off my bluetooth and restarted my computer. i managed to grab another keyboard was able to get in. When i turned on my bluetooth back on. i was unable to connect certain things back on. i was able to get my keyboard to connect & my iPad but I'm unable to get my iPhone to connect to my computer with Bluetooth. I currently have a Mid-2015 iMac running the latest software & iPhone 6 plus running the latest software. If anyone knows what I need to do to get that back up and running,. That would be great. thanks

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

You have never been able to pair an iPhone with a computer via bluetooth. Continuity and handoff don't require pairing, they just require that bluetooth be turned on and within range and that the devices are signed into the same iCloud account.

iPads and iPhones are not meant to be connected to a Mac via Bluetooth.

You can sync data between iOS devices and your Mac using either iTunes or iCloud.

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB - Apple Support
