iPhoto 9.6.x update error

I have El Cap 10.11.5 and App Store keeps suggesting iPhoto 9.6.x update which it won't allow. Error says app hasn't been purchased or someone else bought it.

Macbook currently has Photos 1.5 installed. How do I get the iPhotos update removed from App Store list?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Because Apple is no longer supporting iPhoto and no longer selling it, you can only update iPhoto to 9.6.1 if you own a version of iPhoto that is associated with your AppleID at the AppStore. The Updates tab of the App Store is no longer working at all. If iPhoto is showing in your Purchases history at the AppStore, the fourth tab, try to update by reinstalling as described by Barney.

See this link.

Can't Update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store.
