How do I create a hanging indent in Pages?

I have a numbered list. I want line spacing between the numbered paragraphs to be 1.5, and the spacing within the numbered paragraph to be 1.0. However, when the text in a numbered paragraph exceeds one line the second and subsequent line in the paragraph are spaced a 1.5.

For each numbered list item, select that text, and then set your line spacing to 1.0 - Single. At the end of each numbered list item, set your After Paragraph line spacing to 1.5 times your font size. In the following example, the text is 16 pt Baskerville Regular. The line spacing between the individual lines of the numbered paragraph is set to 1.0 - Single. The line spacing (After Paragraph) setting between the numbered paragraphs is set to 150% of the font size, or 24 pt.

Your idea works, but it certainly seems like an cumbersome solution to have to make this font change at the end of every paragraph in a list, and it is not possible in the example below:

  1. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. In egestas rhoncus maximus. Duis ultricies nunc risus, nec dictum sapien rutrum eu. Nam lobortis ex ipsum, a rutrum diam tincidunt sed. Pellentesque habitant morbi tristique senectus et netus et malesuada fames ac turpis egestas. In viverra ultrices lectus in hendrerit. Sed vel magna non enim rutrum sodales. Maecenas sit amet lacus leo.
  2. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. In egestas rhoncus maximus. Duis ultricies nunc risus, nec dictum sapien rutrum eu. Nam lobortis ex ipsum, a rutrum diam tincidunt sed. Pellentesque habitant morbi tristique senectus et netus et malesuada fames ac turpis egestas. In viverra ultrices lectus in hendrerit. Sed vel magna non enim rutrum sodales. Maecenas sit amet lacus leo.

What I described in my previous post(s) is a word processing solution meant for document interchange/printing, and not text formatting destined for a web page. One can tailor web text to appear typeset when using a proper web authoring tool, and the CSS3 style metrics that allow for text and line height settings.

If you were expecting to apply inter-paragraph line-spacing, and intra-paragraph line spacing here in this community editor, it won't happen when pasted from Pages. That is why I used a screen capture of the Pages content.

Hi Jim,

You do not have to make the change for each paragraph.

Select all items in the list, then open the Text formatting Inspector, click the disclosure triangle beside "Line Spacing" to show the before and after paragraph options, and enter the settings shown in Viking's post (or, if you decide that spacing is too wide, use a smaller value for the 'after paragraph' setting, as I have here (type size is 11 point):
