Q: Windows Firewall blocks Airplay
Airplay will no longer connect to my Harmon Kardon receiver unless I disable Windows Firewall. In iTunes on my desktop, the receiver is shown as checked but grayed out. I can turn off Windows Firewall and Airplay functions properly. I have researched this extensively and I know this problem has a lengthy history. In Windows Firewall I have confirmed the settings for Bonjour and for iTunes. I have created inbound and outbound rules to open ports 123, 3689 and 5353. I have reset "NETSH WINSOCK" via the command prompt. I have rebooted the machine. All iTunes rules apply to all profiles (domain, private, public). I have checked numerous Internet sites and implemented every Apple recommendation I can find. For what it's worth, this problem affects my Harmon Kardon receiver only; my Denon receiver never has an issue. Harmon Kardon offers no solution and has no updates for the receiver.
