    Hi

    Check that your watch is unlocked, that you are wearing it sufficiently snugly on your wrist (neither too loosely, nor too tightly) and that Do Not Disturb is not enabled on your watch.

    With Wrist Detection enabled, in order to bring notifications to your attention as soon as possible:

    - If your iPhone is unlocked, you will receive notifications on your iPhone instead of on your watch.

    - If your iPhone is locked or asleep and your watch is unlocked (regardless of whether the watch screen is asleep or awake) and on your wrist, you will receive notifications on your watch.

    - If your watch is locked or has Do Not Disturb enabled, notifications will go to your iPhone.

    If you are not already doing so, you might wish to use these settings:

    - On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Wrist Detection - turn this on.

    - On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Passcode > Turn Passcode on (choose either a Simple Passcode or a more complex one).

    - Also on the Passcode settings screen, enable Unlock with iPhone.

    After putting it on your wrist, your watch will then unlock after whatever you do first: either unlocking your watch manually (by entering the passcode) or unlocking your iPhone. It will then remain unlocked (including when the screen is asleep) until you remove it from your wrist. When you remove your watch, it will lock automatically.

    For the best performance, also keep both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi permanently enabled on your iPhone.

    It may also help to restart both your iPhone and your watch:

    - Turn both devices off together, then restart your iPhone first;

    - To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off;

    - To turn it back on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

    It may also help to unpair and re-pair your watch. The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch when unpairing via the app. Choose to Restore from Backup when offered the option during set up. Most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions (eg Apple Pay cards, passcode).

    Also check your notification settings:

    • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (bottom left tab) > Sounds & Haptics:
      • Check the Alert Volume;
      • Check that Silent Mode is not enabled;
      • Check that Haptic Strength is set to the middle or far right hand side of the slider.

    • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Messages:
      • Perhaps choose Custom and check - under Alerts - that Show Alerts, Sound and Haptic are each enabled.

    • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Mail:
      • Perhaps choose Custom and check, under Alerts, that Show Alerts is enabled.
      • Tap on your email account (eg iCloud) > check that Show Alerts from iCloud (for example) is enabled > check that Sound and Haptic are both enabled.

    On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Notifications - check that mirrored alerts are turned on for any other affected apps (it may help to toggle this off and on again).

    You're welcome!

    It may also help to reset the network settings on your iPhone (you will need to re-enter your saved Wi-Fi credentials afterwards):

    - On your iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Reset > tap on Reset Network Settings.

    Restart both devices again after doing this.

    Note that permanent or temporary changes to your skin - such as some wrist tattoos - can affect the performance of the watch's sensor. This can lead the watch to mistakenly believe that it has been removed from the wrist, even if it is still being worn.

    If this does not apply then, given the steps that you have already tried, I suggest that you contact Apple Support or make a Genius Bar reservation for further assistance, including with a view to having your watch checked if recommended by Apple (under warranty, if eligible):

    To check warranty status (requires the serial number from the back of your watch):
