Jun 27, 2016 9:24 AM in response to TimJoeby babowa,★HelpfulThe article you referenced most likely refers to a newer OS; as well, you cannot use Recovery on Snow leopard because you need to update your firmware in addition to upgrading your OS to make it available (which, in turn, may render some third party software incompatible).
So, if you are having a problem with your connection to your router or modem, you might want to start by resetting the modem (unplug it for 30 seconds or more, plug back in, and wait for all the lights to stop flashing) and/or checking with your ISP regarding your connection. Also check by trying a different ethernet cable.

FWIW, upgrading to a newer OS very rarely "fixes" any problems present in an earlier OS. In fact, it may make them worse, so it is best to fix the problems before going to a newer OS.
