Q: My mac mid 2012 goes off by itself

My mac mid 2012 goes off randomly, I'm currently running OsX El Capitan and I updated my ram to 16gb 1600 MHz DDR3. The problem begins with a screen glitch, the screen divides and doesn't goes off, it just stays on but besides turn off the computer with the button I can't do anything. When I restart the computer messages like this one appear. What can I do to make my computer works like before?

If this unusual problem follows exactly your memory upgrade, return the new DIMMs to the seller and buy ones that are GUARANTEED to work in your exact model Mac.

In the US, these can be obtained from OWC/MacSales, Data Memory Systems, and sometimes Crucial (Crucial is very conservative about what they support). If not in the US, please let us know what market(s) can service your needs easily.

Hey, thanks for the response. I upgraded to the Crucial DDR3L-1600 SODIMM and according to the Crucial website is supposed to work in my model.

    Any other idea?

"guaranteed to work in your Mac"

So contact Crucial, tell them the ones they sent are not working, and ask for replacements.

Why don't you install the original RAM and see if the kernel; panics stop.  You can also run the Apple Hardware Test:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201257

Note that an error free AHT is not conclusive.

    Ciao.

Well, the crashes started way before I changed the RAM. Actually that was the reason I updated in the first place.

Post the entire kernel panic report.

    Ciao.

I did the AHT and according to the diagnostic it was ok, but the computer at some point got way to hot and I had to take off the back cover and lift it a little in order to get some air inside

You have no know third-party bad actors present. The reasons for those two VERY obscure kernel panic reports is wildly different. This represents the start of a Non-Trend, which adds support for this being a memory problem.

It is possible you had bad memory or a different problem before, and have bad memory now.
