Q: Then how are we to clean lint/dust/debris from between the keys on a Macbook Pro with Retina Display keyboard (Mid-2015 15-inch), and how are we to clean fingerprints and what I'm guessing is "natural oils" from the actual keys?
Everything says we're to use only a mildly-damp, clean microfiber cloth to clean essentially every part of a MacBook Pro with Retina display. But that's just not going to cut it. What about the dirt and debris which inevitably ends up between the keys and hinge of the MacBook? And the random spots which appear on the screen? And for the oily fingerprints on the keys? Also, how many microfiber cleaning cloths am I expect to use? Once one has wiped enough dirt, dust, and oil away - it's then on the cloth... I would be hesitant to launder the cloth in fear of accidentally transferring chemicals back on to my Macbook. That said, we're not to use any keyboard or trackpad covers. I haven't had a Macbook in years, but when I did, I had a palmrest, keyboard cover, and trackpad cover. But I can't use any now. So... how do I keep these components clean, without developing the OCD tendencies of a new mother who makes everyone sanitize their hands before coming near their child?
Also, as far as compressed air cans go - why is the only article which mentions one in respect to the 12'' Macbook, and nothing else? Does that mean I shouldn't use it on my Macbook? I recently received one as a gift. After reading so many discussions, articles and community posts on what NOT to do, I have barely used it, and when I have, I wash my hands before each use. I'm not OCD and I don't want to be, but I like to take care of things that I plan on using for the next 5 years.
And yes, I've already read these articles, a couple which I'm referring to:
Cleaning your Apple products - Apple Support
Clean the keyboard of your MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015) and later - Apple Support
Do not use palm rest or keycap covers on a MacBook Pro with Retina display - Apple Support
Furthermore, how the **** does everything go from damp microfiber cloth to this:
How to disinfect the Apple internal or external keyboard, trackpad, and mouse - Apple Support
^And does this apply to the keyboards and trackpads of Macbook Pros with Retinas? There's no statement one way or another.
If nothing else, I guess I could always take advantage of my 90 days phone support.
