Q: a blank screen then the app crashes

When I go to my iPhone mail app, there is just a blank screen. Sometimes after a few seconds, the app crashes. I can't delete the app because it appears to be "built in". My mail works fine on MacBook Pro and iPad. I have tried all suggestions on the forum.

  1. Soft reset
  2. Toggle the aircraft settings
  3. Delete accounts and then add them again
  4. Recover from earlier backup
  5. Hard Reset then recover

Nothing effects mail app it appears to be frozen on the blank, if double-click home button I see mail screen in the list but it is days old and if I select the mail it displays the old page but everything frozen. How can reset my mail without going through the whole hard reset, recover process again everything appears to be working.

    Update to iOS 9.3.2.

Reset your Network settings. Power cycle your iDevice.

    This should help.

Please explain "Reset your Network settings." I have already turn wifi off and on with a power cycle. I have also tried switching to aircraft mode with a power cycle.

Goto Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Do that

I had this problem tonight.  It apparently was caused by a phishing email associated with the phone number

844-423-2466.  Here's how I *finally* solved the problem:  I pushed the home button twice to see the open applications. There was an email in the "compose" stage and instead of swiping upward to close it, I tapped to bring it to the full screen.  The 844 number was in the "cc" line, and there was no address in the "to" line.  I added an email address in the "to" line (an old email that is still active but I rarely use anymore), and deleted the 844 number from the "cc" line. Then I sent the email.  That apparently reset the "queue" ... and my mail was back to normal!

I hope this explanation makes sense and can help someone in the future.
