Jun 28, 2016 5:26 AM in response to Rigg_Enderslayeby JimmyCMPIT,it could be your app store cache needs to be deleted and you should begin a new download. In many cases connecting your mac directly to a wired router and suspending any other downloading or streaming from other device on your network will improve the time needed to complete.
Deleting the cache will erase any unfinished progress of downloads that have not completed, it will not affect any application that has completed downloading.
reboot into safe mode
Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support
close the App Store application
Open terminal from Macintosh HD/Utilities/Terminal
type
open $TMPDIR../C/
then delete the folder
com.apple.appstore.
open App Store and begin the download
before updating it is prudent to have a backup in place before proceeding
