how to forget old networks in OS 10.4

I have an older iMac, running 10.4.11 it has successfully connected to my network with wiFi in the past, but now it is reporting an error whenever I attempt to connect, (password is correct)

I thought that one thing to try would be to get rid of stored network info, but in )S 10.4, I have not been able to locate where one can delete old network info.

I would much appreciate if someone could provide a solution to this, and maybe also to why all of a sudden it reports an error when it has connected fine in the past ?

Imac is a 800 MHz PPC G4 The "Baseball mac"

Under the Preferences pane, select "Network" and then "Configure".

Under the Airport section, you may see a list of "preferred networks". These are the ones your Mac may try to automatically connect to when their signals are found. Highlight the network you want to delete by clicking on it, then press the minus ('-') button below it. That should remove it. If your preferences pane is locked, you'll first have to click on the lock at the lower left of the window and enter the admin password.

In choosing the Airport section in network preferences, I do not see a list of saved networks. - Could it be that there are no saved networks and that the connection problem resides elsewhere ?

Under "Options" in the Airport section, "Remember joined networks" is checked, so I would have expected to see the network(s) it has been connected to in the past?

If you want to start fresh with no saved or remembered networks, you can remove the following files and reboot (may just want to move them out first, not a full delete, in case it causes problems, but normally shouldn't):

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist

Possibly also these, but I might just try the one above first. Also, possibly:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.nat.plist

Information about previously seen networks my be saved here.

Instead of joining it from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed. Before I went through network diagnostics and all of that stuff in system preferences, and then I tried the "Join Other Network" method, and now it works like a dream.

Might be easier to...

Go to System Preferences

Click Network

Highlight AirPort and click Advanced>Airport tab...

Under "Preferred networks”, highlight any there, click the little minus icon

Select your access point and Remove your access point with the minus button.

Launch your keychain access in Utilities and delete your access point keychain entry.

Go back to the “By default, join:” page and click the plus this time to add your access point. Enter the correct password, save, reboot.

Let us know if it happens again please.
