Q: Since installing El Capitan I cannot connect to shared computers on the network. I can see them but when I try to connect it says Connection Failed. I can connect directly in Parallels using a shortcut.

I cannot connect to shared network computers. Not a problem previously before updating to OS X El Capitan. The computers appear in Finder under Shared heading, but when I try to connect it says Connection Failed. However, under Parallels Windows 7 I can connect fine via shortcut or via mapped drive. Any suggestions?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

El Capitan is a bit picky about security. Try

Finder > Go > Connect to server...

and enter the server address explicitly in the dialog that appears.

Have you tried using an admin user/password from the computer you are trying to access?
